We will have a Lhasang ceremony to connect with the energies around us to purify and renew our minds, possessions, and endeavors.

The Sakyong wrote the Elixir of Life Sadhana on the occasion of his birthday in 1999. His aspiration in writing this practice is that all beings "may be able to celebrate their birthdays with a deeper understanding of time and life.” On the birth of the New Year we will celebrate and dedicate this practice to all beings.

Shambhala Day marks the beginning of the New Year, and is the most important holiday of the Shambhala mandala. Based on the traditional Tibetan New Year’s celebration of Losar, the day is calculated astrologically according to the Tibetan lunar calendar, and changes every year to coincide with the annual lunar cycles.

It is a time for us to express the wealth and richness of our spiritual and cultural heritage through feasting, conviviality, and elegance. Each year, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche addresses the worldwide Shambhala Community via a live online broadcast with centres and groups in more than 25 countries around the world.
