Introduction to Meditation

“In mindfulness, or shamatha, meditation, we are trying to achieve a mind that is stable and calm. What we begin to discover is that this calmness or harmony is a natural aspect of the mind. Through mindfulness practice we are just developing and strengthening it, and eventually we are able to remain peacefully in our mind without struggling. Our mind naturally feels content.” ~Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche

First Sunday of every month at 11am. Introduction to Meditation is a program appropriate for newcomers wishing to learn how to meditate, as well as experienced meditators interested in refreshing their connection to meditation practice.

The session consists of guided instruction in mindfulness meditation, sitting and walking meditation practice and an overview of Shambhala history and principles.

Come as you are! You’ll be more comfortable if you don’t wear clothes that are too restrictive (such as tight pants or a short skirt). You do not need to register in advance.

Suggested Donation: $10. Generosity policy applies (no one turned away).
