About Us

The Houston Shambhala Meditation Center is a meditation group which offers meditation instruction, community, practice and study. We are affiliated with over 150 Shambhala Centers worldwide, organized under the auspices of Shambhala International.

Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, who passed away in 1987, was a Tibetan Buddhist meditation master and author. He was one of the most prominent and influential Buddhist teachers of our time and a pioneer in bringing Buddhism to the West. His son Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, now heads Shamhala International. The Sakyong, like his father, is a lineage holder of the Kagyu and Nyingma schools of Tibetan Buddhism, as well as of the Shambhala tradition.
